Sacrificial Slabs - We Come from Below

Check out our interview with one of the UK’s most exciting extreme metal bands – Sacrificial Slabs!

For the unfortunate few who don’t know who you are, would you mind introducing yourselves?

Sacrificial Slabs: We are based in London. We’re a 5-piece grindcore/death metal act, formed in June last year.
Sarunus: With pop elements!
Simon: We want to bring our extremity to wider audiences. A side note, we have two vocalists, just for good measure. One of which is Yozii, and he’s to be seen to be believed. The band is here to bring old school and new school together

In the effort of getting to know each other better – if you could be a sandwich, what sandwich would you be?

Simon: Club Sandwich, biggest heaviest sandwich and it comes with fries.
Sarunus: Cheese & onion!
Simon: Because he’s a smelly bastard.

Tell us about your latest release…

Sacrificial Slabs: We have an EP out called Gore N Roll, we’re actually preparing to go in the studio and record ASAP, the band is sitting in 12-14 brutal new tracks.

Have you had much chance to tour lately?

Sacrificial Slabs: Unfortunately because of Covid-19 crisis, we have been unable to make the shows in June, but our upcoming shows in August in Romania/Bulgaria have been approved, so we look forward to revisiting this question.

Have you got any crazy tour stories you can share with the world?

Sacrificial Slabs: 15 guys, 3 bands in a sex motel in Mexico. If you want more details ask Simon & Sarunus.

Here at Upside Down Shark we discuss a wide breadth of pop-culture, including music, movies, TV, video games and the like. So with that in mind, if you could have a track featured in anything, whether it be any of the above on even a wrestling theme, what would it be?

Sacrificial Slabs: Given our love for gore and all things macabre, I would have to go with a video game along the lines of Resident Evil or The Evil Within.

Name one thing on your band bucket list…

Sacrificial Slabs: I guess touring the planet. Yoshi has expressed an interest in headlining the Tokyo dome. We want to take our extreme music to a new level; making people realise that this style of music isn’t how they perceive it.

What would be your inspirational quote to share with the world?

Sacrificial Slabs: No apologies, no regrets.

What does the rest of 2020 have in store for you?

Sacrificial Slabs: We’ll be working on a mini-album, and thankfully our festival shows for August have resurfaced. We have shows in the UK at the end of the year, so you will see the Slabs on a stage very soon!

What’s your favourite shark?

Sacrificial Slabs: It’s a toss-up between the Great White or the Mako.
