An Interview With Stone Sea | UDS Interviews

Check out our recent interview with international metal masters Stone Sea!

For the unfortunate few who don’t know who you are, would you mind introducing yourselves?
Stone Sea:
We are Stone Sea, a portrait of life with all its ups and downs… rage, fear, love, hate, inertia, sorrow, hope. All blended with deep colours and thick waveform lines.

In the effort of getting know each other better – if you could be a sandwich, what sandwich would you be?
Stone Sea:
Alternative rock filling with doom metal bread and bossa nova mayo. Ham and stoned cheese with some black ‘zepper’ but with a spicy kick that really adds to the overall flavour of the band.

Tell us about your latest release…
Stone Sea:
Our last release was Mankind Maze (2019), a work that represents our versatility. If either you feel like banging your head, depressed in your bed, dancing bossa nova, killing somebody or dreaming, this EP is for you.

You’ve been touring in support of Mankind Maze. How have you found the tour?
Stone Sea:
We did a small tour in Ireland, releasing each song of the EP in a different county. It wasn’t big, but it was our first one so it was special. We made many friends, met many bands but especially, we got a really nice feedback from the crowd.

Have you got any crazy tour stories you can share with the world?
Stone Sea:
When we played the festival Siege of Limerick last year, there was a guy screaming “HEY” in every compass of our song Prelude. Literally, he was screaming in every 5 seconds for almost 4 minutes straight. We laughed so much when we watched the video later on.

Here at Upside Down Shark we discuss a wide breadth of pop-culture, including music, movies, TV, video games and the like. So with that in mind, if you could have a track featured in anything, whether it be any of the above on even a wrestling theme, what would it be?
Stone Sea:
We could put each one of them in a different place. `Flow Upstream` could be the opening of many episodes of Black Mirror. `Seeing Red` could be the theme for a blind wrestling fighter filled with hate/ `Prelude` could be the opening of a Brazilian TV novel. `Dream Song` would open a virtual reality game for a futuristic console and `Mystify` would be the anthem of a revolution.

Name one thing on your band bucket list
Stone Sea:
World Domination.

What would be your inspirational quote to share with the world?
Stone Sea:
“If you see there’s nothing left to be, shouldn’t you just feel free?”

What does 2020 have in store for you?
Stone Sea:
We are releasing a new album towards the end of the year. Let’s say this album may or may not be followed by a tour, you have to keep an eye on our social media for updates!

What’s your favourite shark?
Stone Sea:
Our favourite shark is actually a goat called Dolores. She’s having many plastic surgeries to look like a shark though. She loves sharks.
