An Interview With Plastic Barricades | UDS Interviews

Paul Love, drummer, producer and one half of London alt rock duo Plastic Barricades sat down for a chat with UDS…

For the unfortunate few who don’t know who you are, would you mind introducing yourselves?

PL: I’m Paul and I play the drums and the other member is Dan and he plays the fool. He sometimes also doubles on guitar. When we are together people call us Plastic Barricades.

In the effort of getting know each other better – if you could be a sandwich, what sandwich would you be?

PL: I’d be a vegan black bean burrito cos I’m lactose intolerant, spicy and full o’ beans. Proper maize tortilla too cos I’m authentic. Yeah, an authentic Scouse vegan burrito.

Tell us about your latest Optimist…

PL: It’s all about staying positive in the face of adversity. We can look at all the problems in the world and say ‘how on earth can we ever fix this’ or we can remember where we came from, see how far we’ve come and look at what we can fix. The individual actions we can do every day that will make the world a better place. It’s not about shaming others or attacking. It’s about focusing on the self and seeing what changes you can make. If you want the world to be a better place you have to lead by example or you’re gonna make enemies instead of changes. There’s a big element of faith with that, that others will see through time.

Have you got any crazy tour stories you can share with the world?

PL: Too many and they’re all pretty incriminating. The FBI might be reading this and I’ll need a green card one day.

Here at Upside Down Shark we discuss a wide breadth of pop-culture, including music, movies, TV, video games and the like. So with that in mind, if you could have a track featured in anything, whether it be any of the above on even a wrestling theme, what would it be?

PL: I wanna write a big 80s hair metal theme song for Bernie. “Feel The BERN!”

Name one thing on your band bucket list…

PL: Gig in orbit!

What would be your inspirational quote to share with the world?

PL: We are our choices, not our instincts.

What does 2020 have in store for you?

PL: More singles, an album release, more songs, more recording and hopefully a tour. I’m also producing some new artists. Lots of big things on the way!

 What’s your favourite shark?

PL: Big Slammu the skateboarding Whale Shark Street Shark.
