An Interview With Keep Up | UDS Interviews

CHECK OUT OUR RECENT INTERVIEW WITH NEW YORK’S NEXT POP PUNK TITANS KEEP UP!

For the unfortunate few who don’t know who you are, would you mind introducingyourselves?

Keep Up: We are Keep Up, Syracuse New York’s pop punk music enthusiasts. The most unique part about our power rock-trio is that we are known for our live entertainment shows. We switch instruments on stage, mid songs to keep the show rockin’ the entire time. We are consistently posting videos and photos that represents our good vibes and silly sense of humour. Follow us if your a fan of Blink-182, Sun 41, Green Day, etc.

In the effort of getting know each other better – if you could be a sandwich, what sandwich would you be?

Keep Up: We couldn’t be a sandwich, in fact we would be a meatball sub with each of us being our own meatball. Ian would be the dry ball, DJ would be baked and crispy, while Chris is extra saucy.

Tell us about Up in Flames

Keep Up: Our full length debut album Up in Flames encompasses everything that Keep Up is. Plenty of hard rocker songs with a mix of heartfelt tunes written with everyone’s tastes in mind. We prefer to stay close to our pop punk roots, however we often tend to write outside the four walls of fast tempo rock music.

You’ve been touring the US in support of Up In Flames. How have you found the tour?

Keep Up: Being a band from the United States, it’s been difficult to really branch off into the UK/Europe scene with out having the proper representation. Although, for the release of Up in Flames, we toured the north east region of our home country and found that it was very successful for what we wanted to achieve. Meeting new bands, fans and making new connections to spread the good word about Keep Up

Have you got any crazy tour stories you can share with the world?

Keep Up: On a drive that should have taken us half the time from Louisville, KT to Buffalo, NY, our transmission blew while leaving the venue. We had no other choice but to take the back roads and average 35 MPH with constant overheating pit stops. Our song “City To City” from our album Up In Flames was inspired and written by this experience.

Here at Upside Down Shark we discuss a wide breadth of pop-culture, including music, movies, TV, video games and the like. So with that in mind, if you could have a track featured in anything, whether it be any of the above on even a wrestling theme, what would it be?

Keep Up: Having our song featured in a video game would be totally stellar. Some of what carved out the music influences for us today came straight out of video games like Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, Guitar Hero and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

Name one thing on your band bucket list…

Keep Up: Well, the bucket list conversation could go two ways. Silly and serious. We’ve talked about playing in Europe and finding a new way to bring our music overseas. Whether touring or playing a large festival, that would be number one on our bucket list. However we’ve also talked about filming a music video underwater… that would just be insanely cool (and expensive).

What would be your inspirational quote to share with the world?

Keep Up: “You know you’re on the right path to success when things stop being easy.”

I saw this quote at the gym in the locker room and I’ve always applied this to music. This is so true when it comes to developing your sound and growing more within the music industry.

What does 2020 have in store for Keep Up?

Keep Up: We’re taking a different approach to releasing music. We haven’t discussed our plan publicly so feel free to Keep Up Witt Out social media info the new year.

What’s your favourite shark?

Keep Up: Baby Shark do do dodo dodo.
