Check out our recent interview with Stephanie from New York’s hardest rockers – Hearts & Hand Grenades!
For the unfortunate few who don’t know who you are, would you mind introducing yourselves?
Hearts & Hand Grenades: We are hard rock band Hearts & Hand Grenades from Buffalo NY.
In the effort of getting to know each other better – if you could be a sandwich, what sandwich would you be?
Hearts & Hand Grenades: I’ve always been a fan of the classic BLT but I would have to kick it up a step and be an avocado BLT.
Tell us about your latest release…
Hearts & Hand Grenades: Our new release Adrenaline debuts May 1st, and it is a four track EP that is fast paced, high energy, and pure rock. We put a lot of hard work into these songs and are excited to share them with our fans. The first single of the EP is called Turning to Ashes and it is about the frustration of realising you’ve been waiting on someone else to be able to move forward with your life.
Have you had much chance to tour recently?
Hearts & Hand Grenades: We are just in the planning stages of putting a tour together for hopefully late 2020/early 2021. Once we have that information available, we will update our website and social media pages with those dates. Stay tuned for some exciting updates!
Have you got any crazy tour stories you can share with the world?
Hearts & Hand Grenades: We played a gig once where Mike (rhythm guitar) bent over to work on a floor monitor but ended up splitting his pants wide open in the process. Since he didn’t have any spare clothes, he had to think quick. He duct taped his jeans from the inside, which did the job for keeping his pants together. BUT he played an entire show wincing as the tape also stuck to some other “areas”. It was quite hilarious to watch.

Here at Upside Down Shark we discuss a wide breadth of pop-culture, including music, movies, TV, video games and the like. So with that in mind, if you could have a track featured in anything, whether it be any of the above on even a wrestling theme, what would it be?
Hearts & Hand Grenades: I would love to have a song of ours included on an action movie soundtrack. Something with a high intensity fight scene or car chase would be fun. I also have a soft spot in my heart for Resident Evil so being included in that video game series would be a fangirl moment for me.
Name one thing on your band bucket list…
Hearts & Hand Grenades: I think for us touring internationally right now is on the short-term bucket list. We’re working hard to put something together for 2020/2021 so we can hit the road and share our music with the world, meeting fans along the way. As far as the long-term bucket list goes, we want to be on tour with some of our favourites: Avatar, MUSE, Metallica, In This Moment, Halestorm, etc.
What would be your inspirational quote to share with the world?
Hearts & Hand Grenades: For where I am in life right now, I would go with “Life is short, don’t wait for anything to happen. Make it happen.”
What does the rest of 2020 have in store for you?
Hearts & Hand Grenades: We will be promoting the new EP and working on putting together some tour dates. We will also begin to work on some new music and have another release at the end of this year. We just plan on creating some new tracks and continuing to move forward.
What’s your favourite shark?
Hearts & Hand Grenades: I love to watch Horror and Thriller movies so my favourite shark is Jaws!
