An Interview With Rozu | UDS Interviews

Check out our recent interview with Denver’s own post-hardcore noise merchants – Rozu

For the unfortunate few who don’t know who you are, would you mind introducing yourselves?

Rozu: Hey guys! We are Rozu a 4-piece band from Denver Colorado. The band is made up of myself (Tim Graham – Vocals), DJ Sundine (guitar), Henry Navarre (bass), and Brian Robertson (drums).

In the effort of getting to know each other better – if you could be a sandwich, what sandwich would you be?

Rozu: If the band was a sandwich, we would be a B.L.T.A. A simple but perfect combo of a sandwich with Avocado.

Tell us about your latest release…

Rozu: We recently just released our single ‘Fading’ in December. The song is a classic non-stop heavy, but melodic song. Fading is the follow up song to ‘Anchor’, with both telling the story of a breakup and the different emotional stages that come with that sort of situation. ‘Fading’ is the realisation of people changing at your lowest point and dwelling on these memories fading away from your life.

How did you find touring in 2019?

Rozu: Our touring experience has been amazing so far and we cannot wait to see more places in 2020.

Have you got any crazy tour stories you can share with the world?

Rozu: Surprisingly, we don’t have any, like, crazy epic stories outside of your classic partying tales. We are hoping to change that this year the more we are on the road.

Here at Upside Down Shark we discuss a wide breadth of pop-culture, including music, movies, TV, video games and the like. So with that in mind, if you could have a track featured in anything, whether it be any of the above on even a wrestling theme, what would it be?

Rozu: We actually have a wrestler who is on the rise in the industry using our song ‘Anchor’ as her walkout music which was, like, one of our biggest bucket list items for a long time. Pretty neat story there, we were lucky enough to play the song live on PPV for her biggest match in her career where she won the belt, that was pretty darn cool for all of us.

Name one thing on your band bucket list…

Rozu: Being able to play a couple of those festivals out there in Europe/UK for sure is at the top of our list. With the States losing the Warped Tour those festivals are truly our biggest goals to achieve at this point.

We also like to advocate positivity here, and one of the ways we like to do that is through inspirational quotes. What would be your inspirational quote to share with the world?

Rozu: “Have hope, it all gets better”. This quote is kind of what I base all my lyrics on, being as I write stories and events from my life that were real low points I always try and throw a message of the light at the end of the tunnel and pulling yourself out of the hole.

What does 2020 have in store for you?

Rozu: A lot! We have completed our debut album along with a few more singles to release in the meantime and hitting the road as much as possible this year.

Name your favourite shark (can be real or fictional).

Rozu: Jaws. Jaws is the only shark you could really enjoy seeing because you know it’s fake and won’t eat you (laughs).
