An Interview With Chasing Apparitions | UDS Interviews

Check out our interview with Indiana’s hottest metal export – Chasing Apparitions…

For the unfortunate few who don’t know who you are, would you mind introducing yourselves?

Josey: I’m Josey Stines. I’m ⅓ of Chasing Apparitions. I handle the instrumentals & some vocals. The other members are Justin Stubbs (Vocalist) & Jacob Ortengren (he also works on the instrumentals with me).

In the effort of getting to know each other better – if you could be a sandwich, what sandwich would you be?

Josey: I’d have to be a grilled cheese. I love grilled cheese.

Tell us about your latest release…

Josey: Our latest release was the single L’appel Du Vide. L’appel Du Vide is latin for “the call of the void”, which presents the inexplicable desire to kill yourself at a particular moment. Sometimes we find ourselves on a very high place and we suddenly think about jumping, or when we are driving a car and we think how easy would it be for us to crash with the other cars in traffic, or when we are holding a knife or hammer in our hands and we think how easy it would be to stab and kill ourselves.

Have you got any crazy tour stories you can share with the world?

Josey: One of the last shows Chasing Apparitions played when we had a full line-up, we played with the band Hail to the King. About halfway through their set, the guitarist literally fell through the stage floor. I’ll never forget the promoter’s face!

Here at Upside Down Shark we discuss a wide breadth of pop-culture, including music, movies, TV, video games and the like. So with that in mind, if you could have a track featured in anything, what would it be?

Josey: I think having one of our songs in a movie would be really cool. Like an insane fight scene with L’appel Du Vide in the background. Just chaotic energy. I’d lovei t.

Name one thing on your band bucket list…

Josey: I would love to headline a sold out venue with Chasing Apparitions.

What would be your inspirational quote to share with the world?

Josey: “You never know if you don’t try.”

What does the rest of 2020 have in store for you?

Josey: Chasing Apparitions is releasing another single on September 4th entitled Memento Mori with our sophomore EP, Am I Worth Saving? coming out shortly afterward.

What’s your favourite shark?

Josey: Lenny (Jack Black) from Shark Tale.

Many thanks to Josey for sitting down to chat with us. Check out Chasing Apparitions!
