Check our recent interview with multi-talented music powerhouse – Emily Daccarett!
For the unfortunate few who don’t know who you are, would you mind introducing yourselves?
Emily Daccarett: I’m a fashion designer and singer/songwriter blurring the lines between my fashion brand and music. I try to create a sort of escapism with my music, think of Blondie having a baby with David Lynch!
In the effort of getting know each other better – if you could be a sandwich, what sandwich would you be?
Emily Daccarett: I would be a Normandy sandwich – prosciutto, brie, and apricot marmalade in a baguette.
Tell us about your latest release
Emily Daccarett: My EP Cannibal is my latest release. I was inspired by Bladerunner and Bladerunner 2049 for the sound design and its futuristic noir-ish vibe, as well as fun 80’s pop with a touch of 70’s rock. I’m a visual person and for this ep, I wanted it to shine with neon blues and reds.
Have you had a chance to hit the road yet?
Emily Daccarett: I’ve been focusing on creating visual content that can reach all over the world. I hope to produce a couple shows in LA, but I’m also working on my new womenswear collection and an activewear line inspired by Cannibal. I do hope to tour soon!
Have you got any crazy tour stories you can share with the world?
Emily Daccarett: Not yet…..
Here at Upside Down Shark we discuss a wide breadth of pop-culture, including music, movies, TV, video games and the like. So with that in mind, if you could have a track featured in anything, whether it be any of the above on even a wrestling theme, what would it be?
Emily Daccarett: I wrote “Red Light” (the first song on Cannibal) around the time Once Upon A Time in Hollywood promotional teasers were dropping. I was not inspired by that movie, but it felt like such a coincidence. I had been listening to a podcast that talked about the entertainment scene in Hollywood in the 60’s and the effect the Manson Murders had in LA, I just started writing and before I knew it, I had a song. I would love to have it in a Tarantino film. He is a brilliant director and feels like one of the last great directors of a time when movies relied on an actor’s craft – at least the last great of the American directors from a broken Hollywood.
Name one thing on your band bucket list
Emily Daccarett: To tour Asia!
We also like to advocate positivity here, and one of the ways we like to do that is through inspirational quotes, my personal mantra being “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing”. What would be your inspirational quote to share with the world?
Emily Daccarett: “Try to look past your own nose, there is a whole world of possibilities. “
What does 2020 have in store for you?
Emily Daccarett: I have some new releases coming out! February 14th will be the first release; Sonic The Hedgehog has some competition haha!
Name your favourite shark (can be real or fictional).
Emily Daccarett: Space Sharks!
