For the unfortunate few who don’t know who you are, would you mind introducing yourselves?
Breakthrough Even: We’re a modern metal band that’s currently operating as a studio project in Atlanta, Georgia. We’re a duo that consists of myself (Josh Turner) and my brother Zach. So far we’ve released two EPs, and four singles.
In the effort of getting to know each other better – if you could be a sandwich, what sandwich would you be?
Josh: Some sort of turkey sandwich!
Zach: I don’t know, I think it’d be sick to be a super thicc ass triple patty burger, topped with the crispiest bacon, and seasoned fries. All smothered in Marlowe Tavern’s home-made tomato bacon jam. I’d be delicious.
Tell us about your latest release…
Breakthrough Even: Our latest release is a single titled ‘Requiem’. We released it on May 1st of this year and it features vocalist Christina Rotondo of the band Adelyn!
Have you got any crazy tour stories you can share with the world?
Breakthrough Even: We haven’t been on tour yet unfortunately, but a very very memorable show we played was at this place in East Atlanta Village called The Union. This band called OBAMA was on the bill with us. These guys were just super lowkey, supposedly “off the grid”, and brought protest signs to show off outside the bar. They really were just an odd group overall, their performance was dressing as political figures (their lead singer had an Obama mask on) and basically consisted of them losing their fucking minds on stage. Honestly, it was terrifying but hey, they went hard.
Here at Upside Down Shark we discuss a wide breadth of pop-culture, including music, movies, TV, video games and the like. So with that in mind, if you could have a track featured in anything, whether it be any of the above or even a wrestling theme, what would it be?
Josh: Definitely some sort of action video game or a film!
Zach: It would definitely be the intro song to some crazy anime series. I’m currently watching Baki and that shit is wild!
Name one thing on your band bucket list.
Breakthrough Even: You know an artist sponsorship would be pretty cool! Instrument companies, our DMs are always open!
What would be your inspirational quote to share with the world?
Zach: “Self, is what I’m about to say going to add value to the conversation? Or is it my opinion which no one cares for or asked about?”
What does the rest of 2020 have in store for you?
Breakthrough Even: 2020 has been something else so far, but we’re staying busy with more material and we’re working on completing a third EP!
